Miracast is a type of technology that can be used for those who want to wirelessly share content on one screen to another screen or a projector, like presentations, pictures, and videos. It was released in 2012 by the Wi-Fi Alliance. However, when you try to mirror your device, you may get an error message saying that your device does not support Miracast, so it cannot project wirelessly. To know how to fix this error, check out the solutions mentioned below.

Check whether the Windows 10 System Supports Miracast

You can check whether the Windows 10 system supports Miracast by following these steps mentioned below:

  1. Hold the Windows and R simultaneously on the keyboard to invoke the Run prompt.
  2. Then input ‘dxdiag’ into it and select the OK button to launch the ‘DirectX Diagnostic Tool’ screen; choose the ‘Save All Information’ option at the lower section.
  3. Once the Save As screen appears, choose the Desktop option and then hit on the Save button.
  4. Go to the DxDiag text file and twice click on it to launch it.
  5. Beneath the section of ‘System Information,’ check if Miracast is available or not.

Check whether Wi-Fi is Turned On

You should check whether Wi-Fi is turned on by following these steps mentioned below:

  1. Hold the Windows and R simultaneously over the keyboard to open the Run prompt.
  2. Then insert ‘ms-settings:network-wifi’ in it and hit the Enter button.
  3. You should drag the switch to start Wi-Fi, in case it’s deactivated.
  4. Now, you must also check whether Wi-Fi is turned on the second device.

Reinstalling Wireless Network Adapter Drivers

  1. Hold the Windows and R simultaneously over the keyboard to invoke the Run prompt.
  2. Afterward, insert ‘devmgmt.msc’ into it and hit the Enter button.
  3. You should extend the ‘Network adapters’ option, choose the wireless network adapter driver, and then right-click.
  4. Then choose the Uninstall device option.
  5. Later, reboot the system, and the OS will install the driver again by itself.

Check if the Network Driver is Compatible

You can check if the network driver is compatible by following these steps mentioned below:

  1. Navigate to the Windows icon and right-click on it.
  2. Then choose the ‘Windows PowerShell (Admin)’ option.
  3. You should hit the Yes button once the confirmation pop-up appears.
  4. Later, copy and paste this command and press the Enter key: Get-netadapter|select Name, ndis version

Make the Wireless Mode Selection Automatic

  1. Hold the Windows and R simultaneously over the keyboard to launch the Run prompt.
  2. Input ‘devmgmt.msc’ into it and select the OK button.
  3. Go to the ‘Network adapters’ and extend it, then choose the wireless network adapter driver.
  4. Then right-click on it and choose the Properties option.
  5. You should click on the Advanced tab and adjust the value to Auto, then select the OK button.
